Hanshi Ken Tallack (born 1955) was first introduced to Martial Arts in the early 1960's, when as a child, he was taken to the YMCA in London, Ontario. His interest in Judo and other Japanese Martial Arts eventually overwhelmed all of the other areas in his life. It became his hobby, his lifestyle, and his vocation.
During the 1970's, Ken Tallack was introduced to the Dai Nippon Butokukai. Created in 1895 at the direction of the then-Emporer of Japan ( Meiji), DNBK exists to preserve the character building qualities of Classical Martial Arts . Respect, compassion , gratitude, honour , integrity, loyalty and discipline are the core character values of Dai Nippon Butokukai. Hanshi Tallack has represented this group, and these values in Canada since 1996.
This unique view on Martial Arts has given him a strong belief in the value of classical Martial Arts practice on the character development. With others of like mind, Hanshi Tallack has raised and contributed over $250,000.00 to charitable and educational purposes. It is for this reason that he founded Non Profit Martial Arts Inc. (NPMA) and serves as President.
NPMA is an organization dedicated to providing Classical Martial Arts lessons to Youth and Adults across Canada.
NPMA in conjunction with Tallack Martial Arts, the Karate Kids Program, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and the Dai Nippon Butokukai has provided over 10,000 free Martial Arts lessons to youth across Canada who would otherwise be unable to participate in a Martial Arts Program. This work continues today.
NPMA has also raised and donated tens of thousands of dollars to various charities and charitable efforts over the years.
Tallack Martial Arts is proud to be affiliated with NPMA and assist it in its doctrine.
